Atlas Professionals do Brasil donates to School in Nova Holanda Favela

21 August 2015

As one of Atlas’ top priorities, ‘investing in people’ is at the heart of our core ideals and values. However, not only do we invest in our personnel but also within our local communities.

The Cenafa Foundation

This week the Atlas office in Macaé donated ten computers to a school based in the Favela, Nova Holanda. The school is supported by the Cenafa (Centre for Tomorrow’s Flower Support) foundation. The foundation was formed by a group of volunteers that had the desire to help the poorer communities within Brazil.

The ‘Smart Home Project’

The school is part of the ‘Smart Home Project’ in Macaé that offers computer courses to children between the ages of 5-12, on software packages such as Microsoft Windows. The school hosts a computer class each week for 10 pupils at a time.

Classes in Nova Holanda

Atlas Professionals do Brasil were informed about the school through Atlas’ Personnel Coordinator, Karine Bessa, who attended university with the foundation’s Director.

Atlas donated ten computers to the school and helped to install and reformat them for their new owners.

Atlas’ support in Brazil

Atlas’ Personnel Coordinator, Karine Bessa, visited the school and its new ICT suite.

“As the school was set up 15 years ago, it’s a great place for students to come and learn a variety of classes from English classes to Capoeira. The school can also provide food to families in need. Through these activities the children are less exposed to the violence in the Favela. Atlas is very proud to contribute this project.”
