Atlas Looks forward to the Next Challenges in 2016

23 December 2015

With 2015 coming to a close, Atlas looks forward to the next challenges in 2016 and continuing to invest in the heroes of the onshore and offshore industry. Although this year has not been easy for our industries we intend to continue our efforts in securing new and exciting opportunities for the year ahead.

As 2014s downturn in oil prices continues to reverberate beneath the surface, Atlas has worked hard to cement secure foundations within our 15 business lines. We’ve been busy this year; through three brand changes, opening three new offices and taking part in 11 exhibitions we have strived to diversify into new markets.

Major Projects in 2016

One of our major successes at Atlas this year was the three year contract win with Rijkswaterstraat (part of the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management). Atlas’ personnel have already begun work on Rijkswaterstaat projects and will continue to work as a part of their fleet. In the first week, Atlas had already placed 40 professionals on the various vessels of the Rijksrederij.

Also this year, one of the biggest projects of the dredging industry took place in the heart of Egypt. The ‘New Suez’ Canal expansion project was another major success for Atlas, allowing us to supply a variety of dredging specialists to the project. Over the course of one year, dredgers were working around the clock to remove 250 million cubic meters of sand to create a parallel canal to allow ships to simultaneously pass one another. The project was a success and was completed by its ambitious deadline in August 2015.

Atlas’ offshore wind & subsea cables business line also secured a contract with DONG energy. The contract will allow Atlas’ personnel to work on DONG’s projects based in Germany, both onshore and offshore in the North Sea for the next 5 years.
